Once came back from paradise, you ll probably continue your journey to La Paz.
It is very easy to find buses for this trip that usually take 3h30 to 4h – depending on the traffic at the entry of La Paz.
Two different options :
The tourist bus ( more expensive but also more comfy – also less frequent )
Or the public bus.
On these kind of journeys, because they are short and during day time, I definitly recommend the public bus. For 20 bolivianos, the bus is safe and really ok. It leaves every half an hour from the main place of copa copacabana, so it is very handy.
After 45 min ride, everybody gets out of the bus for a quick boat journey from San Pedro de Tiquina to San Pablo de Tiquina ( on the other side of the road). The boat costs 2 bolivianos and you will have the pleasure to see your bus floating away on a massive embarcation. The crossing last 10 mins, and at the end, you can buy a very nice ice cream ( seems to be the treat of every bolivian in our bus) for 1 boliviano.
floating bus !!!
The same bus pick you up for 2h30 more, until La Paz terminal.
If you need a place to stay in La Paz, 5 minutes away from the bus terminal is Pirwa Hostel. For 45 bolivianos, it is a very nice place, in an old typical « pacena » building, with a small terasse overlooking La Paz. Of course they have also private rooms.
Another cheaper option would be the hostel » El Carretero » for 20 bolivianos (2 euros!) a night. But don’t be too picky, at that price, you get what you pay for, but there is a really nice atmosphere at night and you can cook there if you are on a budget.
Don’t forget to check out the new « teleferico », if you dream of flying over the city.
